Contact Your Sponsorship Agreement Holder (SAH)

Overview

A number of organizations have signed sponsorship agreements with the Government of Canada to help support refugees from abroad when they resettle in Canada. These organizations are known as Sponsorship Agreement Holders (SAHs).

A SAH can be a local, regional or national organization. SAHs can also differ in size, composition and geographical mandate.

SAHs assume overall responsibility and liability for the management of sponsorships under their agreement. SAHs can sponsor refugees themselves or work with other groups in the community to sponsor refugees.  These groups are referred to as Constituent Groups (CGs).

Currently, there are over 100 SAHs across Canada (outside of Quebec). They represent approx. 85% of all refugee sponsors in Canada and submit the majority of refugee sponsorship applications on an annual basis.

Note that SAHs may require proposed sponsors or sponsoring groups to enter into legally enforceable contracts.
